About the Program

The ABAC Mentoring Program fosters meaningful connections between faculty and staff across campus through an enriching professional development experience.

After setting up your profile and answering a few brief questions, you’ll be able to discover potential matches aligned with your preferences.

Testimonials

“I knew Madison when she was a student. Like her, I was also young when I started teaching. I shared with her that it is okay to reach out for help. And I learned from her that one of the main things we do here is connect with students. That is an important lesson.”
Dr. Jeff Newberry, Mentor
"Jeff has constantly enriched me with resources to help better my teaching style and invited me to view his classroom to see how he engages students at the freshman level. I know he will continue to be a good resource for years to come."
Prof. Madison Thornhill, Mentee
"This opportunity has resulted in the development of a friendship that provides support and collaborative opportunities. "
Prof. Melissa Harrell, Mentor
"I am grateful for the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally. Through the Emergenetics training and our weekly lunches, I gained valuable insight not only about myself, but also about my mentor."
Olga Contreras-Martinez, Mentee
“Like me, Katherine is very passionate about research and student engagement. I was able to share information with her about the promotion process and how to navigate the peer-reviewed research process. And we've done a lot of collaboration in terms of looking at how our student clubs work together.”
Dr. Jewrell Rivers, Mentor
"As I was writing my annual review this year, I was reminded that in 2023, one of my goals was to have someone outside of the School of Ag come and evaluate my teaching. That happened through this program!"
Dr. Katherine Cerny, Mentee
"In 2014, I had the opportunity to participate in the USG ELI program. That experience became really powerful for me. It inspired me to go back to school, to get my doctorate degree. This is what excited me about this program – to be able to be an inspiration to someone else and seeing our mission come to life and all the amazing engagement happening on campus.”
Dr. Alan Kramer, Mentor
“Dr Kramer, thank you for your example, passion, and service. To ABAC leadership, thank you for providing this opportunity and for your commitment to growing careers at ABAC.”
Dr. Chris Daniels, Mentee
